Are video games recession proof? Would buying more video games or systems help us get out a recession?

I have to write a proposal argument for my writing class and I want to try doing something satirical and propose that Americans begin buying more video games to get us out of the recession. I’m not taking any econ classes nor do I know a lot about economics, so I don’t really have a good understanding of the current economic situation in the US. With that in mind, let me know if such a proposal is too outlanding and impossible. Thanks!

As long as they arent to expensive they should do well in a recession. People have more time on their hands and the game would be a good diversion.
