williams asked:

Why am I addicted to video games? I used to play outside and do a lot of sports. Now I can’t control myself, I am always playing the games all day. How can I make myself stop playing video games?

i know its drastic, but get rid of your system. seriously,

Try reading. May I recommend “Snowcrash” or “The Diamond Age,” both by Neil Stephenson, or “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe,” by Doug Adams?

    This was my problem, also.

What i did to stop myself, was tell my mom to take the Power Cord, or some vital piece of my Xbox and hide it.
Also, make sure you tell her to only give it to you on weekends, or a certain day, such as Tuesday.

Worked for me, might work for you.

find some other things to do, if you don’t have anything else to do try to stop playing video games bit by bit.

if you play all day then just don’t play for half an hour or 1 hour and then 2 hours ect ect.

you should still play games just not all day.

hang out with your friends more often and then you will naturally play them less and less, if you don’t have any friends then it’s hard to stop.
join a club of some sort (and not a virtual one either lol)
get a girlfriend that doesn’t play games.

try something new you like .. for example (outdoors) play sports or go at the mall…with the sports you will forget the video games little by little..but play more frequently.

Theta waves, fun, and many other reasons, some do to game others do to you. Yes you can control your self. Its about focus. First steps is to limit your game time. Cut your game time down. Set a goal 1and a half hours every couple days be a decent goal or even a day.

Start by setting a time you will be off by and sign off. Then cut down game playing by half till you reach your goal do this over a month.

This will not be easy unless you find something else you will like to do. Try going for a walk.
Start a new hobby that you know you might like.
    do some cleaning up.
    read a book
    Try something else.

    As Always
    Play The Game Your Way

Give all your games and game system to the goodwill or salvation army, that’s where I think you should start. If your going online have someone place a block on your computer and a password that only they know so that your unable to play the games online. I hope this helps. It’s a little harsh but it might just work.

Give your games away . And maybe lock them away somewhere you can’t get them like ask a friend to hold them and never give em to you or get addicted to something else like me
