Joe asked:

I’ve been playing video games since I was 5 years old. A lot of people assume playing video games gives you faster reflexes. Others say it ruins your ability to think. Could somebody please enlighten me on this and tell me what’s good AND bad about playing video-games?

It just gives you something to do when you’re bored. It makes your brain think of where to go and what to do. Keeps your mind sharp too.

Depending on the type of video games that you play you can be effected in different ways. Like if you are not in a good state of mind RPGs help some escape. RTS games can increase your ability to multi-task. And yeah FPS can increase your hand eye coordination.

Detriments: you can hurt your eye sight if you play for extended periods of time. Some people can actually become addicted to video games, its a hard one to break ;D. Playing to much can also cause so motivation problems, sometimes you might find yourself not wanting to do anything but play a certain video game.
